Overview: Waterfalls in abundance is what you will remember after a stroll along the Eagle Creek trail. The trail follows a large side canyon off of the Columbia River towards the flanks of Mt Hood. As the trail makes its way up the slight but steady incline it passes by one stunning set of falls after another. Adding to the superb scenery of the falls, forest, and valley is the trail. A marvel with many sections blasted out of the shear rock walls - Even a tunnel was built underneath a particularly large cascade allowing the casual walker a whole new perspective. As we hiked we took our time making lots of picture stops and detours. We hiked 7 miles up the canyon, stopping just before 7 1/2 mile camp, and returned the following morning. For river trails, Eagle creek holds up as one of the best.
Andy and I began hiking at 3:00 PM. Rain was on the way and we knew it was just a matter of when for us. It worked out very well as we were able to take our time on the trail, enjoy camp that evening till later that night.
