Grindelwald, Switzerland  ( Kleine Scheidegg to Wengen)

Quite possibly the most breathtaking stretch of trail that I have ever walked.  You keep looking at these mountains that rise straight up to the heavens and keep thinking to yourself, Is that real.  The Jungfrau tower above like no other. We took a train up the valley from Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg.  The train has a special track because it is so steep.  From the Kleine Scheidegg we hiked a trail to Wengen - another glorious car-free town perched high above Lauterburn valley.  An Amazing day amongst the epitome of Swiss peaks.

Sam making her way towards Wengen along the path, You could also take the train down, but why rush with this backdrop?  The trail followed the valley down.  Along the whole way to the left of us was just a massive wall of rock and snow that commanded your view.  It was like a fantasy backdrop.  Still hard to remind yourself, yes that's the real mccoy.

The Jungfrau on the right is the highest mountain in the Berner Oberland which is this area in Switzerland.

From Wenden we took another harrowing train ride to Laughterburn Valley.  It reminded me of Yosemite with its surrounding walls.  We were on our way now to a hostel in Gimmelwald which was high up on the ridgeline ahead overlooking the Jungfrau and many other massive peaks.

The only access to this small town was high above the valley is by gondola.  Once in this small village we easily located the hostel.  I hope the whole town does not slip right off the side into the valley below.  All the other backpackers at this hostel were in great moods- we were all overwhelmed by our surroundings and blessed to be staying the night at such a place.
