Rocky Mountain National Park

4.2 miles to Chasm Lake     (9400' to 11800')

We camped in the park for 2 nights and did 2 long day hikes.  One up to Chasm Lake directly below the face of Longs Peak (The highest Mt. in the park).  And another that was a trail through the park and we had to take a bus back.  It is a wonderful park that I could stay for a much longer time.  The valleys and mountains are huge with an extensive network of trails.

The trail to Chasm lake wasted no time- It was all about gaining some vertical.  Me resting by a delightful stream.

The trees faded away and shear wall of Longs Peak came into view.  We were heading straight for the base of the mountain.

This huge valley opened up infront of us.  Sam is seen here on the trail on the way to the green meadow above the waterfall.

This is Chasm lake.  We watched climbers scale the sheer wall as we ate lunch.  It was quite a sight and I could barely fit the top of the mountain and the lake in the picture.
