Catalina Island Southern California For three weeks in a row I had plans to do this one night camping trip out on Catalina Island. For three weeks it then rained each weekend. But it was only a matter of time. We got on the ferry at Dana Point, just north of San Diego and enjoyed the 1 hr ride out until arriving. It was a beautiful little harbor city. Felt a bit like being in Europe. Everyone used golf carts to get around. It was a peaceful mile walk up the valley to our campground past some stables and a golf coarse. We stayed one night and were back on the ship the next morning. Neat spot.
We decided to take a hike from the trailhead at the campground up to the ridge high above. The steep trail headed up until we were in the middle of some serious fog coming over the ridge.
This quote was at the top of the ridgeline that we climbed up.
A strange memorial that was at the bottom of the valley that was built in the early 1900's for a man that devoted himself to preserving the island.
