Plivice National Park (Croatia) I had seen some video of this place on my Rick Steves DVD and decided that it would be cool to drive through Croaia and check this place out. Our Eurorail pass did not work in Croatia or Slovania so we rented a car and did lots of driving. Plivice was one of those places where you can't help but wonder if it is manmade and look for the water pumps. This place was very hard to get good pictures in the middle of the day with bright reflections on the falls. The park is covered in miles of boardwalks that are a joy to walk on. The guide books also warn to stay on the boardwalks due to landmines in the area from the 89 civil war. It really was spectacular to walk through. One of those places on earth that feel blessed with beauty.
Turquoise water with falls literally everywhere you look. This small park is an oasis iin the middle of a scarred and rebuilding Country. We stayed the night at a campground just miles away for the Bosnia border, but we had no desire to visit Kosovo on this trip. T
