Stonewall Peak, Cuyamaca State Park ( Southern California) 5 miles We headed up to the mountains just east of San Diego to Cuyamaca State Park. It was obviously devestated from the fires of 2003 that pretty much burned down every inch of the park. The ground had lots of green plants that had grown, but the trees were still scarred everywhere. Our hike of the day was to climb Old Stoney. It was an interesting peak that had a nice section of ridgeline right before the top. On top we were greeted by the USC rowing team. Tons of people up there. We took a different route on the way down and it was an easy and enjoyable 5 mile loop.
Lots of crisp fresh air up top and fantastic views of the mellow rolling mountians of southern California. A wonderful place for a quick winter outting.
